One of Toronto's oldest and most affluent residential neighbourhoods, known for large period houses on curving, tree-lined streets threaded by ravines.
Location & boundaries
North of downtown, bounded roughly by the CPR tracks to the north, Yonge Street to the west, Rosedale Valley Road and Aylmer Avenue to the south and Bayview Avenue to the east. Yorkville and Summerhill lie to the west and Cabbagetown to the south.
History
Named for the wild roses on the Jarvis family's estate (settled 1826), Rosedale was subdivided from 1854 as one of Toronto's first garden suburbs. Chorley Park, a former Ontario Government House, stood here until 1960.

A quiet, established, largely single-family area with winding streets, mature trees and little through traffic, often described as "old-money" Toronto.
