Agincourt is a suburban neighbourhood in northeast Scarborough that grew from a 19th-century farming and railway village into one of the Greater Toronto Area's largest Chinese-Canadian communities, with many Hong Kong and Taiwanese businesses arriving from the 1980s onward.
It runs along Sheppard Avenue East roughly between Kennedy Road and Markham Road, extending from Highway 401 south toward Finch Avenue. The City recognizes it as two areas, Agincourt North and Agincourt South-Malvern West, next to Tam O'Shanter-Sullivan, L'Amoreaux and Malvern.
A postal village was established here in 1858, its name traced to John Hill's post office at Brimley Road and Sheppard Avenue. Knox Church's congregation dates to 1848, and Agincourt joined Metropolitan Toronto in 1953.
The area is residential and family-oriented, with a strong East Asian cultural presence reflected in its shopping plazas, restaurants and community life.
Housing is predominantly mid-century suburban, made up of detached and semi-detached single-family homes, with condominium and mixed-use redevelopment proposed around the aging Agincourt Mall site.
Agincourt Mall anchors indoor shopping, while numerous Chinese-themed shopping centres and plazas along and near Sheppard Avenue serve the wider Asian-Canadian community.
Green space includes Agincourt Park, Brimley Woods and McDairmid Woods, and the Agincourt Recreation Centre and Albert Campbell pool provide indoor pool and rink facilities.
Schools are run by the Toronto District School Board, including Agincourt Collegiate Institute and Albert Campbell Collegiate Institute, and the Toronto Catholic District School Board, such as Francis Libermann Catholic High School.
Agincourt GO Station on the Stouffville line provides commuter rail, supplemented by TTC bus routes; Sheppard Avenue, Kennedy Road, Markham Road and Highway 401 are the main roads.
Landmarks include Knox United Church and the historic Agincourt railway station, now a GO Transit stop.
The Agincourt branch of the Toronto Public Library, dating to the 1920s, serves the area on Midland Avenue.
May suit families and buyers seeking suburban single-family homes with commuter-rail access and a large East Asian retail and dining scene.

Budget for Ontario's land transfer tax on top of the price; purchases in the City of Toronto also pay a separate municipal land transfer tax. First-time buyers may qualify for refunds on both.

Generally not right now. Since January 1, 2023, the federal Prohibition on the Purchase of Residential Property by Non-Canadians Act has barred most non-Canadians from buying residential property, with exceptions such as permanent residents and some work-permit holders. The ban has been extended before, so confirm its current status and get legal advice on your situation.
