Location & boundaries

In northeast Scarborough, bounded to the south by Highway 401, with Agincourt to the north, the Rouge to the east and Woburn to the south. It centres on the Sheppard, Markham and Neilson road area.

History

Malvern began as a farming settlement in 1856 (its post office giving the community its name) and was redeveloped from about 1972, when the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation built a large planned suburban community on expropriated farmland.

Lifestyle

One of the country's most diverse communities, with more than sixty represented cultural backgrounds and a notably young population, laid out as car-oriented residential subdivisions.

TTC bus routes run along Finch, Sheppard, Markham and Morningside Avenues connecting to the subway, and the approved Eglinton East LRT is planned to reach Malvern.
