Guildwood is a quiet, planned residential community in southeast Scarborough set atop the Scarborough Bluffs along Lake Ontario, known for its winding streets and the historic Guild Park.
It lies south of Kingston Road along the bluffs and lakeshore, near West Hill, Woburn and Scarborough Village.
The community was developed from 1957 after the owners of the Guild Inn, Rosa and Spencer Clark, sold about 450 acres; the Guild Inn itself opened in 1914 and later became an art colony.
It is a leafy, family-oriented suburb with a strong sense of local identity and access to the waterfront.
The 1950s subdivision introduced winding roads, cul-de-sacs and buried utilities, with detached family homes throughout.
Guild Park and Gardens, which displays architectural fragments salvaged from demolished Toronto buildings, sits above the bluffs, alongside Elizabeth Simcoe Park, Grey Abbey Park and lakeshore green space.
The Toronto District School Board serves the area, with Sir Wilfrid Laurier Collegiate Institute as the local secondary school and elementary schools including Guildwood Junior Public School.
Guildwood GO Station on the Lakeshore East line provides commuter and VIA rail service, supplemented by TTC bus routes; Kingston Road is the main arterial.
The Guild Inn Estate with its restored gardens, and the Guildwood Gates salvaged from the old Stanley Barracks, are local landmarks.
May suit families and nature-oriented buyers wanting detached homes near the Bluffs and a GO train commute.

Budget for Ontario's land transfer tax on top of the price; purchases in the City of Toronto also pay a separate municipal land transfer tax. First-time buyers may qualify for refunds on both.

Generally not right now. Since January 1, 2023, the federal Prohibition on the Purchase of Residential Property by Non-Canadians Act has barred most non-Canadians from buying residential property, with exceptions such as permanent residents and some work-permit holders. The ban has been extended before, so confirm its current status and get legal advice on your situation.
