A lively commercial-and-residential strip along College Street west of downtown, long associated with Toronto's Italian-Canadian community and now also home to Portuguese and Latin American residents. Two- and three-storey mixed-use buildings line the street with cafés, bars and restaurants.
Centred on College Street roughly between Bathurst Street and Ossington Avenue, spreading north and south between Harbord and Dundas Streets. It forms part of the city-recognized Palmerston–Little Italy area, with Trinity-Bellwoods and the Queen West area nearby.
Italians began settling here in the 1920s after moving west from the former Ward district, and the community peaked around 1961 before many families relocated to Corso Italia on St. Clair and to suburbs such as Vaughan. College Street was largely built out with Edwardian buildings in the early 1900s.
Daytime cafés and bakeries give way to a busy evening restaurant-and-bar scene. It is a dense, walkable area popular with students, young professionals and long-time residents.
College Street is lined with two- and three-storey buildings with shops at grade and residential or storage space above, while the side streets hold detached and semi-detached Edwardian houses from the early 1900s.
College Street is the main strip, packed with restaurants, cafés, bakeries and bars. The sidewalks feature the Italian Walk of Fame and the Portuguese Canadian Walk of Fame.
Small green spaces include Weldon Park and the Grace-College Parkette.
The area is served by the Toronto District School Board, the Toronto Catholic District School Board and the French Conseil scolaire Viamonde; nearby schools include Clinton Street and Montrose Junior Public Schools and Harbord Collegiate Institute.
The 506 Carlton streetcar runs the length of College Street, with the 511 Bathurst and 505 Dundas streetcars on the neighbourhood's edges.
The Royal Cinema on College Street (opened 1939) is a landmark, and the strip hosts the annual Taste of Little Italy street festival.
May suit those wanting a walkable, transit-served, downtown-adjacent area with an active dining and nightlife scene.

Budget for Ontario's land transfer tax on top of the price; purchases in the City of Toronto also pay a separate municipal land transfer tax. First-time buyers may qualify for refunds on both.

Generally not right now. Since January 1, 2023, the federal Prohibition on the Purchase of Residential Property by Non-Canadians Act has barred most non-Canadians from buying residential property, with exceptions such as permanent residents and some work-permit holders. The ban has been extended before, so confirm its current status and get legal advice on your situation.
