Hamilton is a small, somewhat isolated Richmond community in the city's far east end, wedged between arms of the Fraser River next to New Westminster's Queensborough.
Location & boundaries
It lies at the eastern edge of Lulu Island, separated from the rest of Richmond by a stretch of Agricultural Land Reserve, with the Queensborough neighbourhood of New Westminster bordering it to the east. Highway 91 runs through the area.
History
The community grew from homes built under the Veterans' Land Act; school trustee Alexander Hamilton established its first school in 1936, a building now attached to the community centre.
Lifestyle
It has a self-contained, small-town feel, with residents within walking distance of a school, shops, parks and Fraser River trails.

Historically single-family houses on medium lots, the area has diversified with newer condominiums, notably the Hamilton Village development.

Parks include McLean Park and Hamilton Highway Park, along with riverside trails on the Fraser.
