Promontory is a large hillside residential area climbing the slopes above Sardis in southeast Chilliwack. It is made up of more than a dozen named subdivisions and is valued for its views.
It occupies the hillside above Sardis in the southeast corner of the city and has been guided by the municipal Promontory Development Plan since 1994.
Growth here has followed the city's 1994 Promontory Development Plan, which set out a phased, planned hillside community.
The area is family-oriented and car-dependent, with newer subdivisions and elevated views across the valley.
Housing is mostly newer detached single-family homes plus townhouses, spread across subdivisions such as Promontory Heights, Crimson Ridge, The Highlands and Bear Creek Ridge.
Everyday shopping is served by the Promontory Hillside Plaza and the larger Sardis and Vedder Road retail areas below.
Promontory Heights Elementary Community School serves the hillside within the Chilliwack School District (SD33); students continue to the newer Stitó:s Lá:lém totí:lt and Sardis Secondary, and a second Promontory school has been under discussion.
May suit families wanting newer detached homes with views on the hillside.

Generally not right now. Since January 1, 2023, the federal Prohibition on the Purchase of Residential Property by Non-Canadians Act has barred most non-Canadians from buying residential property, with exceptions such as permanent residents and some work-permit holders. The ban has been extended before, so confirm its current status and get legal advice on your situation.
