West Point Grey is a quiet, affluent residential neighbourhood at Vancouver's northwest tip, next to the University of British Columbia, known for its beaches, character homes and the low-key West 10th Avenue village.
Location & boundaries
On the west side, it is bordered by West 16th Avenue to the south, Alma Street to the east, English Bay and the waterfront to the north and Blanca Street to the west, adjacent to UBC and the Endowment Lands. Kitsilano lies to the east.
History
The Musqueam lived here at the village of Ee'yullmough. The area was part of the municipality of Point Grey, which incorporated in 1908 and amalgamated with Vancouver in 1929; a streetcar line and the growth of nearby UBC spurred the Point Grey Village shopping strip on West 10th Avenue.
Lifestyle
It is a tranquil, family-oriented area, with students and university staff among its residents given the proximity to UBC.
