Silverado is a newer suburban community on the southern edge of southwest Calgary, next to the Spruce Meadows equestrian grounds. It is characterized by newer homes with preserved wetlands and pathways nearby.
It sits in the deep-south southwest, south of Stoney Trail, east of Spruce Meadows, west of Sheriff King Street and north of 194th Avenue SW, near Bridlewood, Somerset and Chaparral.
The land was annexed in 1984 but stayed undeveloped for years; home construction began in 2005, with wetlands preserved between the community and Spruce Meadows.
It is a quiet, newer family-oriented suburb bordered by protected wetlands and pathways.
Housing is predominantly newer single-family detached homes.
Preserved wetlands and pathways separate the community from Spruce Meadows to the west.
Calgary Transit bus service connects the area, with major road access via Macleod Trail, Sheriff King Street, Spruce Meadows Way and Stoney Trail; a future south CTrain extension has been discussed but not funded.
The community is adjacent to Spruce Meadows, an internationally known show-jumping and equestrian facility.

Since January 1, 2023, the federal Prohibition on the Purchase of Residential Property by Non-Canadians Act has barred most non-Canadians from buying residential property, with exceptions such as permanent residents and some work-permit holders. The ban has been extended before, so confirm its current status and get legal advice on your situation.
