Quayside is New Westminster's waterfront residential district, a strip of riverside condominiums and public boardwalk on the Fraser River.
It runs along Quayside Drive on the north bank of the Fraser below the downtown ridge, west of the SkyTrain stations. Downtown lies immediately inland.
The waterfront shifted from working shipping terminals and a public market to a residential and recreational area from the 1980s, with the Westminster Quay market opening for Expo 86.
It is a walkable, amenity-rich waterfront setting oriented to the river and its esplanade.
Housing is almost entirely mid-rise and high-rise condominiums, including newer waterfront towers.
The River Market offers food vendors, shops and restaurants steps from the boardwalk.
The Waterfront Esplanade and Westminster Pier Park form a continuous riverside boardwalk and park about 2.5 km long.
The New Westminster School District (SD40) serves the area.
Columbia and New Westminster SkyTrain stations are a short walk up from the waterfront.
The Fraser River Discovery Centre and Samson V Maritime Museum are on the quay.
It may suit downsizers and professionals wanting low-maintenance waterfront condo living near transit.

Generally not right now. Since January 1, 2023, the federal Prohibition on the Purchase of Residential Property by Non-Canadians Act has barred most non-Canadians from buying residential property, with exceptions such as permanent residents and some work-permit holders. The ban has been extended before, so confirm its current status and get legal advice on your situation.
