Mississauga is Ontario's third-largest city and the seventh-most populous municipality in Canada, with 717,961 people at the 2021 census. It sits on the northwestern shore of Lake Ontario in the Region of Peel, bordered by Toronto's Etobicoke to the east, Brampton to the north, Milton to the northwest and Oakville to the southwest.
The city grew out of a set of older villages, and several keep their own character: Port Credit on the lake at the mouth of the Credit River, historic Streetsville, and Malton, home to Toronto Pearson International Airport. The Credit River valley, protected as green space, runs through the city from north to south.

Getting around
Mississauga is served by the QEW, Highway 403 and Highway 401. GO Transit trains run on the Lakeshore West, Kitchener and Milton lines, with GO buses at the Square One terminal, and the city's MiWay transit runs more than 60 bus routes connecting to GO. Public schools are run by the Peel District School Board and the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board.
