Horseshoe Bay is a small seaside village at the far western end of West Vancouver, best known as a major BC Ferries gateway.
In the District of West Vancouver on Howe Sound, it sits at the western terminus of the Trans-Canada Highway (Highway 1) and the start of the Sea-to-Sky Highway (Highway 99).
Settled from the early 1900s and originally known as White Cliff City, its ferry terminal opened in 1951 and was later taken over by the province.
It has a waterfront village atmosphere shaped by boating and ferry-related tourism.
Housing mixes older detached homes and cottages with low-rise condos on the steep waterfront slopes.
A compact village of shops, cafes and restaurants rings the bay and marina.
Horseshoe Bay Park sits at the waterfront, and nearby Whytecliff Park, Canada's first saltwater Marine Protected Area, is known for diving and sea lions.
Served by the West Vancouver School District (SD45), with Gleneagles Ch'axáy Elementary and Rockridge Secondary.
The BC Ferries terminal links to Nanaimo's Departure Bay, the Sunshine Coast at Langdale and Bowen Island, with West Vancouver Blue Bus service and Highways 1 and 99.
The Horseshoe Bay ferry terminal and marina and Whytecliff Park are the signature landmarks.
May suit those wanting a waterfront village with ferry access and boating.

Generally not right now. Since January 1, 2023, the federal Prohibition on the Purchase of Residential Property by Non-Canadians Act has barred most non-Canadians from buying residential property, with exceptions such as permanent residents and some work-permit holders. The ban has been extended before, so confirm its current status and get legal advice on your situation.
