Maillardville is a historic neighbourhood in southwest Coquitlam and the largest Francophone community in Western Canada, founded in 1909 by French-Canadian mill workers. It retains a distinct French-Canadian heritage and is one of the city's oldest areas.

It sits in southwest Coquitlam above the Fraser River, near the former Fraser Mills industrial site, with Central Coquitlam to the north and the Burquitlam and Braid areas to the west.
History
In 1909 and 1910, Fraser Mills recruited French-Canadian workers from Quebec and Ontario, and the community that formed was named for Father Edmond Maillard, the first parish priest of Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes.

Today it blends its French-Canadian roots, celebrated each year at the Festival du Bois, with a diverse, established residential population.
